About T.K. Whalen & TOPIARY

Twenty-four years ago, native New Yorkers, T.K. and Bill Whalen bought a farm in Sanbornton, NH and moved there - leaving their fast-paced careers as computer and project management consultants behind them!

With their sights set on retiring to life in the country, T.K. and her husband Bill set upon the task of redoing their 1860's farmhouse and planting the vast gardens that now add to the charm of Owl's Rest Farm. In addition to the farmhouse, the 27-acre estate has fields, forest, a pond, a barn, a gazebo and a recently added cottage and mini-greenhouse.

In 2000, T.K. opened TOPIARY - a catering company that eventually turned into a permanent botanical design studio that would cater to both retail and commercial clientele.  Eventually, TOPIARY expanded to include Truman's Tea Room - which serves traditional English Teas, the Cookery, which provides culinary instruction and TOPIARY - a small, intimate events venue.

In addition to designing and building one-of-a-kind botanical pieces and trees, T.K. gives public and private demonstrations and lessons on floral design and, four times each month holds traditional English teas, conducts cooking classes, or hosts small receptions for bridal or baby showers, rehearsal dinners or small weddings.  

T.K. loves to grow David Austin English roses and currently can account for over 90 rose shrubs and bushes in her garden.  She also collects different varieties of clematis, foxglove and hollyhock as well as grows heirloom vegetables and tomatoes.

T.K and Bill are living happily ever after at Owls' Rest Farm with their English Labrador Truman.  Rumors of a new Lab puppy planned this winter are NOT at all greatly exaggerated!

WHAT IS TOPIARY AT OWL'S REST FARM?

TOPIARY at Owl's Rest Farm Is a Design Studio That Creates and Hand Crafts Unique and Elegant Silk Topiaries And Flower Arrangements for Every Occasion!  Both Our Studio and Showroom Are Situated On A Beautiful Old 27 Acre Farm That is Located in Central New Hampshire. We also have gardens which are open to the public (in season) and we serve traditional English Tea throughout the year!

HOW CAN I ORDER ONE OF YOUR PRODUCTS?

You can purchase arrangements similar to those shown on our web pages by calling us with the name of the piece you are interested in. 

You can also email us and we'll get right back to you with a price. If you need a special design, just email or call us to tell us what you're looking for. You can also visit our studio in Sanbornton, NH (By Appointment Please!) 

Please Note: Our designs are all custom-made, so each piece will be just a bit different from the others - (unless you require two or more identical pieces). Most of our larger floral arrangements and topiaries are plastered into their containers for maximum durability. Most pieces are signed by designer & owner T.K. Whalen.

HOW MUCH DO YOUR PRODUCTS COST?

Since pricing is guided by type, size and materials, it's often difficult to specify prices for the samples on this site. You can call us with an order for a specific arrangement or work with design T.K. Whalen on a special custom design. A non-refundable $50 design consultation fee is incurred at the start of the design process which will be applied directly to your purchase. For an idea of pricing guidelines, CLICK HERE

HOW WILL I RECEIVE MY PRODUCT?

You can pick up your arrangement at our studio in Central NH or we can ship it to you. Shipping costs are included in the prices quoted to you.

WHY IS SHIPPING SO COSTLY?

We take great care to ensure that your receive your arrangement in the best condition. It is wrapped & boxed with care and then we pay USPS, Fedex or UPS whatever they charge us to send it to you. We DO NOT make money from shipping charge - Shipping charges include our shipping cost plus the cost of shipping materials, ie. box, wrap, bubbles, etc.
